Conference Committee Report on National Transport Commission Bill Had Been Approved
Following the passage of the National Transport Commission Bill by the Senate on Thursday 15th of March, 2018, the Senate on Wednesday 6th June, 2018 passed the report of the Conference Committee of the National Assembly on the National Transport Commission Bill.
The Conference Committee, which was Chaired by Senator Gbenga Ashafa representing Lagos East Senatorial District, was set up by both chambers of the National Assembly with a view to harmonise the differences between the versions of the Bill as passed by the House of Representatives and the Senate respectively.
On Wednesday 6th June, 2018, senator Gbenga Ashafa presented the Conference committee Report on National Transport Commission Bill to the Senate and same was approved by the Committee of the Whole.
The approval of the Conference Committee Report of the National Transport Commission Bill, by the @NGRSenate brings to a close the Legislative process of the passage of this important Bill. Next step is the transmission of the Bill to H. E President @MBuhari for assent.
The Chairman of the committee said, “#NTCBill would create the National Transport Commission which is a Multi-Modal economic and safety oversight transport sector regulator. This agency would unify the economic regulatory regime of the transport modes (land, marine & aviation) & add a layer of safety oversight. I am convinced that this bill would further make the Nigerian Transportation landscape more competitive and attractive for investors.”
